Panels & Brace Frames

Two types of steel shear walls are available: the Hardy Frame® Panel is manufactured in 12”, 18” and 24” widths, the Hardy Frame® Brace Frame is made in 32”, 48”, 64” and 80” widths.   Refer to our published tables for standard heights available for a particular product width.  Custom heights are available provided the requested height is within the parameters of our engineering. 

Panels consist of a solid steel face, when viewed in a horizontal cross section they are a one piece “C” shape.  The “C” shape is enclosed at the top and bottom with channels to provide a means of making connections.         

Brace Frames are a rectangular shape with a single diagonal member.  The two posts and the diagonal are square tubes; the top and bottom consist of channels that fit over the posts and diagonal member.  There are also “field” or backing studs located at 16” OC to provide a means of attaching surface finishes.
